FORTY YEARS OF FAITHFUL SERVICE APRIL 2010

Francisco was one of the young men who lived at el Rancho Milegro.  He was just fourteen years old and a fine Christian.  Some of the others were Francisco's brother Juan, and Julio, Gorge, Oreillia, Antonio, Erasmo, Leonardo, Laobardo and the girls Josephina, Isabel and later Dina.  They went to school during the week, and then to Saturday Bible Classes.  The kids could not be left alone at the ranch, so they went along on the village route, starting with the city of Leon Brindis.  Francisco was immediately interested in helping and evangelizing, and the others soon found a niche to help.  Invitations soon came for 1, 3 and 5 day classes, and having the young people along, attracted others to join.

MORE FOND MEMORIES OF ENA

Ena was diabetic and had one foot amputated about a year ago after an infection from stepping on a nail.  She did not let this hamper her activities and continued in Bible Classes.
She was a true hostess and opened her home and her heart to others.  Her smile was genuine and contagious, as was her love for Jesus.

It is wonderful meeting
new friends who turn
out to be family.  The
kindred spirit shared
in Jesus is unique, global
and eternal!

Por lo tanto, cuando
tenemos oportunidad,
déjenos hacer bueno
a toda la gente, sobre
todo a aquellos quien
pertenezca a la familia
de creyentes.

CHEMULA WOMAN'S TYPICAL DRESS

Chemula is an autonomous township of 50K inhabitants of indigenous Mayan tribes curanderos (medicine man) diagnosed medical and psychological conditions. He prescribed remedies such as candle lighting and live sacrifice.  Chemula families kneel on the floor of the church with melted wax, drink ceremonial cups of posh, a sugar cane liquor with coca Cola.  They chant prayers in tzotzil an archaic dialect. Being autonomous the Mexican police or military are not allowed in the city as they have their own police force.
Photography is prohibited and violators can be thrown out of town.

HE IS THE TRUE LIGHT THAT GIVES LIGHT TO EVERY MAN.....

Another family is waving the limp body of a chicken over three children sitting in a close circle.  Waving of the white feathered chicken was repeated again and again often hitting the faces of the children even knocking them over.  Three women at the back of the church could be heard chanting repeatedly in a monotone seem to express hopelessness of the heart.  The obscurity and bloom on the faces of the people was so heavy that I physically felt sadness at their utter darkness.

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA CATHOLIC CHURCH OF CHEMULA

No pews...the flor is covered in pine needles and soda bottles.  Families come to see healing and pardon for their sins.  In one small family the father is praying and lighting several small rows of candles. He waves a bottle of water over the candles. He hands it to his son pours the water over a baby two months old. The grandmother takes the families live chicken to the altar.  There she prays to the saint Juan Bautista for permission to make her sacrifice in exchange for pardon.

Psalm 1 Él parecerá a un árbol  plantado por los ríos del agua....

Bendito es el hombre que and
              a no en el consultor del impío,
         Ni soportes en el camino de pecadores,
         Ni se sienta en el asiento del desdeñoso;

Pero su placer está en la ley del SEÑOR,
         Y en Su ley él medita el día y la noche.
          Él parecerá a un árbol
                            Plantado por los ríos del agua,
         y trae adelante su fruta en su temporada,
         Cuya hoja también no se marchitará;
         E independientemente de él hace prosperará.
